Teen hit by SUV; injuries minor

SCRANTON - A city teen suffered minor injuries when she was hit by a sport utility vehicle Wednesday night while crossing South Main Avenue at Rundle Street, police Lt. Joseph Arbie said.

Katelynn Karbowski, 14, was taken to Community Medical Center after the Jeep Cherokee knocked her to the ground at 8:42 p.m., causing scrapes to her knees, he said.

The driver, Andrew Panek, 46, of Scranton, told police he was at the stop sign, looked both ways and did not see the girl as he began to pull onto South Main.
