Plishka to face April murder trial

HONESDALE - Jeffrey Plishka is scheduled for trial April 26 in the 1991 death of Laura Ronning.

Mr. Plishka, 46, is accused of killing Ms. Ronning at Tanners Falls in Dyberry Twp. with a single gunshot to the head. Ms. Ronning, of St. Petersburg, Fla., was a counselor at Camp Cayuga.

In October, Mr. Plishka pleaded not guilty to first-degree, second-degree and third-degree murder; attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse; and attempted rape.

Prosecutors are pursuing the death penalty against Mr. Plishka.

Jury selection is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Wayne County Court.
