David E. Stec, Ph.D., a Scranton native and assistant professor in the department of physiology and biophysics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss., was a recipient of an ASH Young Scholar Award. Dr. Stec received his doctoral degree in physiology from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed post-doctoral training at the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City. The son of Michael and Ann Stec, he graduated from the University of Scranton with a degree in biology. He lives in Brandon, Miss., with his wife, Dr. Heather Drummond Stec, and their two children, Sydney and Connor.

Raymond A. Mazzarella has joined the firm as a full-time human resources management consultant. A human resources executive with more than 30 years' experience, he received a bachelor's degree in business and economics from King's College and pursued graduate studies at Wilkes University, as well as George Washington and American universities in Washington, D.C. He resides in Ashley with his wife, Donna, and two children.

Jude Stambone has joined the firm as a financial adviser. A lifelong Lackawanna County resident, he is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Scranton. He was vice president of investments at Wells Fargo Bank.
Mercy Health Partners
Kevin Cook, vice president of operations and chief operating officer at Mercy Health Partners, Mercy Hospital Mount Airy in Cincinnati, joined Mercy Health Partners, Scranton, as president and chief operating officer effective June 15. He brings more than 10 years of operational, strategic, administrative and business-development experience to Mercy Health Partners and Mercy Hospital. He served in the Marine Corps infantry from 1991 until 1999, attaining the rank of major. He earned his master's degree in business administration from Boston University and received his bachelor's degree from Hobart College.

Francis X. O'Connor, an attorney in Great Bend, was elected to his second one-year term as treasurer of the association during the annual meeting held June 4 in Pittsburgh. He is a graduate of the University of Scranton and the St. Louis University Law School. He and his wife, Sharon, have three grown children.

Melanie E. Walsh, certified public accountant, was elected president of the Northeastern chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants for the 2009-10 fiscal year. She is an accounting and auditing manager at Jones Kohanski & Co. LLP in Sugarloaf. She earned a bachelor's degree from Wilkes University. Other local officers include: Adam Kamor, C.P.A., president-elect, a subsidiary tax and financial specialist at Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre; Patricia A. Kenneth C. Doolittle has joined the bank as vice president, commercial lender in the Tannersville Community office, dealing with both Monroe and Pike counties on their expansion and new acquisition projects. A bank executive with 28 years of experience, he received his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Albany in business administration/management, with a minor in economics. He resides in Clarks Summit with his wife, Peggy, and their son, Ken.
