CPCU of NEPA installs officers

Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters of NEPA recently held their officer installation ceremony. Elected officers are: Susan Kelly, CPCU of Knowles Associates Insurance Consultants, president; Jim Kahn, CPCU of Lackawanna Insurance Group, outgoing president; Jennifer Sgarlat, CPCU of Penn Millers Insurance Co., vice president; Thomas Denis, CPCU, of Guard Insurance Group, secretary; and Mitchell Marcus, CPCU of Allstate, treasurer.

Grand opening for De Rienzo studio

A grand opening and open house was held Wednesday for De Rienzo Photography, Route 93 in Sugarloaf.

Salerno returns to Great Wolf Lodge

Christopher D. Salerno has returned to the Pocono Mountains resort Great Wolf Lodge as the director of sales and marketing. He served as the resort's original director of sales and marketing when it opened in 2005 and helped develop it into one of the hotel systems most profitable assets. Mr. Salerno is responsible for achieving occupancy and revenue objectives and directing the daily efforts of the field sales managers, as well as executing sales and marketing programs.

Mattioli a Great Pennsylvanian

Dr. Joseph Mattioli has been chosen as the 2009 Great Pennsylvanian by WVIA-TV. The station will premiere a biographical film, "Dr. Joseph Mattioli: Always Moving Forward," on Tuesday at 7 p.m. In addition to the broadcast, the film will be shown in the Abeloff Theater at East Stroudsburg University that night. Dr. Mattioli, the sixth Great Pennsylvanian in WVIA's original series, is the the owner of Pocono Raceway. The biography will be rebroadcast Thursday at 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. on WVIA-TV.

FNCB taking part in 'Feed A Friend'

First National Community Bank is participating in the annual "Feed A Friend" campaign, running through Friday, Nov. 20, in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne and Monroe counties. Containers for nonperishable food donations have been placed in FNCB branches in each county. United Neighborhood Centers, Commission on Economic Opportunity, Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network and Wayne County Food Pantry Program are among the agencies that will receive the donations.

Giant Food Stores donating $500,000

Giant Food Stores LLC is donating $500,000 to fight area hunger through its annual Bag Hunger campaign. Customers were asked to donate $1 at checkout during the two-week in-store campaign in September to held fund regional food banks and local pantries. The chain's vendor partners also contributed a total of $135,000.

Publication again ranks Pennoni

Pennoni has been ranked as a top 75 architectural/engineering/construction management firm by the publicaton for a fifth consecutive year. The company provides a wide range of professional engineering services, including civil engineering, water/wastewater, transportation, underwater inspections, environmental, inspection and testing, land surveying, site design and landscape architecture, mechanical and electrical, geotechnical and structural engineering.

Scranton native to deliver speech

Jeff Birnbaum, veteran Washington journalist, TV commentator and award-winning author will speak at Lackawanna College's Mellow Theater on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. His program, entitled, Wall Street, Big Banks and Washington: Can they get along?" is presented by the Lackawanna College United Cultures Leadership Institute as part of its new speaker series and is among the college's homecoming week activities. The lecture is free and open to the public.

W-B chamber, county partner

The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber is now an official Luzerne County Community Partner in support of the 2010 census, along with Luzerne County Commissioners and the Luzerne County Diversity Commission. The kickoff event and press conference, which is open to the public, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Innovation Center conference room, 2nd floor, 7 N. Main St, Wilkes-Barre.
