H1N1 flu vaccine offered for kids

SCRANTON - A nasal vaccine for the swine flu will be offered Saturday for healthy children between the ages of 2 and 18.

The free vaccination clinic will run from 9 to 11 a.m. at 640 Madison Ave., hosted by the Scranton Temple Residency Program and Moses Taylor Health Care System.

Doses of the vaccine for the H1N1 flu strain are limited and include only the nasal mist. For more information, call 340-2120.

Just be aware that children under the age of 9 are going to need two doses (check out the CDC web site). The first one primes the system while the second one provides protection. Find out if you can get the second dose as well before taking the first one.
