County hearing planned on study

SCRANTON - County commissioners will hold a public hearing on Friday at 10 a.m. to review the county space study and make available to residents findings from the study.

Consultants who prepared the space study, which has cost $262,000 to date, will discuss how the study can be used to reduce the amount of space the county currently leases. Majority Commissioners Corey O'Brien and Mike Washo have typically used public hearings to announce new initiatives or new developments. The public hearing on Friday will be held in the county administration building at 200 Adams Ave. in Scranton.

The county could certainly save some space by outsourcing some departments all together. Criminal collections comes to mind, and other counties have successfully outsourced such offices which are now all profit with zero drain on resources. The Penn State Co-op can also be moved elsewhere.
