HARRISBURG -- Foreclosure filings in Pennsylvania jumped 60 percent over last August, as adjustable-rate mortgage payments rise and the job market stagnates.
RealtyTrac Inc. says 4,921 Pennsylvania properties received foreclosure filings last month, or about one in every 1,100 households. That amounts to an 18 percent increase from July and it is 58 percent above August of last year.
Both outpaced the national rate of increase during the same periods.
However, Pennsylvania remains well below the national foreclosure rate, which was one in every 416 households in August.
